Why Bitcoin Regulation Hurts Us All

Reflecting on the notion of seeking regulatory blessing on cryptocurrencies from governments. Or what not to if you are bitcoin supporter and advocate.

A common mistake bitcoin supporters and advocates make is thinking that bitcoin needs regulation or legal status in order to 'go mainstream' or be seen as 'legitimate'. The sun, wind, and the rain operate perfectly fine without government intervention; and yet some bitcoin users still seem to think that bitcoin is in dire need of state regulation.

It's a position that's almost irreconcilable with Bitcoin's true founding mission. In seeking government's permission to exchange goods and services, these critics seem to want cryptocurrencies subject to the same regulations that made people seek an alternative in the first place.
